Hoffman York will move its office from downtown to this building in the Historic Third Ward.

The agency and its 65 employees will occupy 19,044 square feet of the building’s first two floors. The building, located at 200 N. Water St., is currently known as the Chicago Street Lofts. It has apartments above the office space.

Joseph Property Development, which owns the building, will rename it the Hoffman York building when the firm moves in August.

“The agency’s new space will be designed to accommodate (Hoffman York’s) team oriented business model,” said Troy Peterson, Hoffman York CEO,  in a statement. “The office will have more spaces that allow for collaborative work as well as large and small employee gatherings and less space will be dedicated to computer servers, paper, files and storage.”

Hoffman York was founded in 1933, and has been in downtown Milwaukee for 31 years. It has been located at 1000 North Water since 1998.

The move gives Milwaukee law firm Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren law firm, also located at 1000 North Water, more leverage as it considers its options. The firm, which leases 114,000 square feet, is the largest tenant in the 283,000-square-foot building and has hired a Chicago-based real estate broker and a Chicago-based architectural firm to explore its office space options before its lease expires in 2019.
