HellermannTyton is in the initial stages of planning another expansion at its Good Hope Road facilities. The project could lead to the addition of 125 jobs in the next five years, but there is no firm date for when it would take place.
The company requested an ordinance to amend the detailed planned development known as the Good Hope Industrial Center allowing for the expansion of the facilities at 6701 W. Good Hope Road. The item has been referred to Milwaukee’s Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee, but no date has been set for any action on it.
Terry Tuttle, HellermannTyton North America’s vice president of sales and marketing, said the company is just looking to lay the groundwork and get the necessary approvals for the expansion.
She said the company is planning to add a minimum of 50 manufacturing and technical jobs in the next two years and another 75 over the next five years. She said the company has been able to take more market share, which is driving the expansion.
“We are doing very well in the automotive and electrical segments of our business, which also includes solar,” Tuttle said.
HellermannTyton is a global manufacturer of high performance cable management solutions used for fastening, identifying, protecting, organizing, routing and connecting components in the electrical, automotive and datacom markets.
Its North American headquarters are in Milwaukee at 7930 N. Faulkner Road and also has a third facility at 8475 N. 87th St.
The company previously expanded the Good Hope Road facilities to move some manufacturing operations out of the Faulkner Road facility.
Tuttle said the Good Hope Road facility is currently 191,000 square feet and the proposed addition would add another 160,000 square feet, including parking.
Milwaukee Alderman Robert Puente, who represents the district Hellermann Tyton is located in, said he’s happy the company is adding jobs in the district.
“As far as I know, these are plans for the future and nothing is being done immediately,” Puente said. “But I’m really happy the company will be growing in the district.”
