Hein Electric Supply to move from Brookfield to West Allis

New location will allow for future growth

Hein Electric Supply Co., an electrical distributor in Brookfield, plans to move headquarters to West Allis and hopes to add employees in the next three to five months.

Currently located in a 40,000-square-foot building at 12745 W. Townsend St. in Brookfield, Hein is moving into the former Ferguson Plumbing Supply warehouse at 2030 S. 116th St. in West Allis.

Ferguson built a new corporate headquarters in West Allis at 114th and Rogers streets and relocated in early December.

Hein’s new location has 60,000 square feet of space and its ceilings are about eight feet higher, said Ron Kohlenberg, president of Hein. The new site is also closer to Highway 45 and Interstate 94, he said.

“We’ve been in Brookfield for 15 years and this is where I thought I would retire, but because of the wonderful job our staff has done, we’ve just out grown it,” Kohlenberg said.

The company, which has about 60 employees will relocate at the end of April. Kohlenberg would not specify when or how many new employees the company might hire.

West Allis Mayor Dan Devine was excited to learn a new corporate headquarters was moving to West Allis.

“It’s always good to land a new company, but when you can get a corporate headquarters, it’s even better,” he said.
