Harley-Davidson Inc. has introduced a new hydration vest that is designed to keep motorcycle riders cool while on the road.
The vest is equipped with polyacrylite crystals, which can hold water and gradually release it onto the wearer for an “air conditioned” effect. There are also mesh panels on the shoulder and chest for air flow.
When it’s soaked in water for 10 minutes, the vest is completely hydrated for several hours. The crystals remain effective for one year or about 50 uses.
Harley-Davidson has also introduced a hydration headwrap and two caps that use the same polyacrylite technology to slowly evaporate water onto the rider’s head.
The stretch-side, zippered front vest, which costs $55, is available in sizes S to 5XL at most Harley-Davidson dealerships. The headwrap, baseball cap and flat top cap are all $30 at dealerships.
