Hard Cider bar opening in Walker’s Point building

Bar in Brix apartment building will feature up to 100 hard ciders

Milwaukee will have its first hard cider bar in spring 2016, when a father and daughter team open Lost Valley Cider Co. on the first floor of the Brix building in Walker’s Point.

Stuart and Chandra Rudolph are leasing 1,400-square-feet at 408 W. Florida St., where they will have a small bar and an outdoor patio.

The bar will feature 14 hard ciders on tap, including their own home brew recipe that will be made off-site, two beers, and up to 80 bottled ciders.

“We want to feature hard ciders from all over the world – as many from the Midwest as we can get our hands, on but also some from European countries,” Chandra Rudolph said.

The Rudolphs brewed beer at home as a hobby, but when Chandra, 31, found out she had celiacs disease in her 20s, she had to switch beverages. The duo decided to try their hand at brewing cider and decided they loved it.

Stuart Rudolph said hard cider is the fastest growing adult beverage segment in the country.

“It almost dried out during prohibition, but it has made a huge come back because it has a wide variety of taste profiles more similar to wine,” Stuart Rudolph said.

The bar, which is slated to open in March 2016, will join BrewCity CrossFit and BrewCity Yoga in the Brix building.

Brix Apartment Loft’s is a 7-story, 156,000-square-foot building that is the former home to the Ziegler Candy Factory.
