The Greater Milwaukee Foundation honored Gary Jorgensen, chairman of Pewaukee-based VJS Construction Services, this week with its Frank Kirkpatrick Award.
The Frank Kirkpatrick Award is named for a prominent real estate developer and radio commentator who died in 1985. The award recognizes people who’s efforts have led to significant physical improvements to the community.
“In his 40 years with Pewaukee-based VJS Construction Services, Jorgensen has been involved in hundreds of construction projects that have shaped the greater Milwaukee region,” The GMF said in a statement. “He has been a leading voice in the construction industry itself over that time.”
In particular, the GMF praised the work Jorgensen has done for local education, health care and nonprofit institutions, including Mount Mary University, St. John’s on the Lake, Rogers Memorial Hospital and the United Community Center.
Jorgensen and his wife, Judy, have established an advised fund with the GMF and involve their grandchildren in researching local charitable programs and organizations and recommending grants.
