Graffito is closed

The Graffito restaurant in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward has officially closed.

The SURG Restaurant Group had previously announced it would keep the restaurant open until the end of this year to honor its pre-existing obligations to its customers and employees.

However, the restaurant at 102 N. Water St. posted a Tweet (@GraffitoMKE) on Twitter on Wednesday that stated, “After 3 wonderful years of serving scratch Italian cooking to many loyal patrons, we have decided to close our doors.”

The restaurant opened in 2011 as Ryan Braun’s Graffito. However, Braun, the star outfielder of the Milwaukee Brewers, was suspended by Major League Baseball this year, and he admitted to using performance enhancing drugs. The admission led to an end to the SURG Restaurant Group’s business relationship with Braun.
