German container manufacturer buys Kenosha industrial land for $4.5 million

Schutz Container Systems Inc., a Germany-based maker of shipping containers, has purchased 24.6 acres of industrial land in Kenosha for $4.51 million, according to state records. The company bought land at 7517 60th St., southwest of where 60th Street (County Highway K) meets Union Pacific railroad tracks. The land is located in the 120-acre Midwest Transportation Center business park. The land is assessed at $1.56 million, according to Kenosha County records. Schutz did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The company has its U.S. headquarters in North Branch, New Jersey. The business park is bordered by Highway K to the north, Union Pacific railroad tracks to the east, Highway 50 to the south and Canadian Pacific railroad tracks to the west. The land there is being marketed for build-to-suit developments, with potential building sizes ranging from 100,000 to 1 million square feet. Key tenants include Ardent Mills and S.T. Specialty Foods Inc., according to the Kenosha Area Business Alliance website.
