Three Waukesha County companies and one from Baraboo were named as Wisconsin manufacturer of the year in their respective categories at an event Thursday evening in Milwaukee.
Waukesha-based Generac Power Systems, Inc. won the mega category. Alto-Shamm, Inc. of Menomonee Falls won in the large category. Teel Plastics, Inc. of Baraboo took home the medium category award and Felss Rotaform LLC of New Berlin won in the small category.
Special awards for company culture went to Masters Gallery Foods, Inc. of Plymouth and Amerequip Corp. of Kiel.
The manufacturer of the year program, sponsored by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP and Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, is in its 28th year and had 38 companies nominated for awards.
Companies were evaluated in areas such as financial growth or consistency, technological advances, product development, environmental solutions and sustainability, operational excellence and continuous improvement, commitment to employees and effective research and development.
“The success of these companies proves that manufacturing is alive and well and continues to be a pillar of Wisconsin’s success. These manufacturers are the backbone of our economy, and when they are strong, other industries will succeed as well,” said Kevin Heppner, managing partner at Baker Tilly, one of the event’s sponsors.
