Frontier adds direct flights to Florida

Denver-based Frontier Airlines today announced it will add two new direct routes from Milwaukee, to Orlando and Ft. Myers, Fla.

The airline is offering a sale on fares to the locales, starting at $69 one way, through Aug. 9. The Orlando route will become effective January 7, 2015, and the Ft. Meyers route will start January 8, 2015.

Frontier today also added eight other Florida direct routes across its network.

“We are excited to continue to expand our brand of low-fare service,” said Daniel Shurz, Frontier’s senior vice president, commercial. “These introductory fares attest to our commitment to make air travel more affordable and accessible across America. We are confident customers will love our amazing low fares and the ability to optimize their travel experience for the comfort and value they seek.”

Indianapolis-based Republic Airways Holdings Inc. acquired Frontier Airlines out of bankruptcy protection in 2009 and absorbed Oak Creek-based Midwest Airlines under the Frontier brand in 2010. The airline greatly reduced its flights out of Milwaukee following the acquisition, but has recently been adding some back.

Mitchell International Airport has reported five consecutive months of increasing passenger traffic through June.
