Frontier Airlines will add three new nonstop routes out of Milwaukee as part of 42 new destinations the airline announced Thursday.
The Denver-based company is adding non-stop service to Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth and Philadelphia from Gen. Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, according to the announcement.
The Dallas and Philadelphia flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays while the Atlanta flights will take place Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The Dallas routes will start April 14, Atlanta starts on April 15 and Philadelphia starts June 2.
The addition service from Frontier will create more competition for air service at Mitchell. From Milwaukee, Dallas/Fort Worth is currently serviced nonstop by American and Southwest airlines. Southwest and Delta currently fly nonstop from Milwaukee to Atlanta. American currently flies nonstop from Milwaukee to Philadelphia.
Frontier is also adding multiple routes from Austin, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Kansas City, Nashville, New Orleans, Phoenix, Portland, Raleigh/Durham, St. Augustine, Fla., and Seattle.
Frontier president Barry Biffle said travelers between big cities “have enjoyed low fares while many markets have remained overpriced and underserved.”
“We see hundreds of additional opportunities like these throughout the country, fueling our growth for years to come,” Biffle said.
The airline announced in September that it would be adding daily nonstop service from Milwaukee to Orlando and seasonal nonstop service from Milwaukee to Fort Myers, Fla. The airline added nonstop flights between Milwaukee and Las Vegas in October.
“The announcement that Frontier Airlines is adding three new Milwaukee-based routes is just the latest sign that General Mitchell International Airport is emerging as a national leader in delivering high quality service that travelers and businesses alike can rely on,” Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele said in a statement. “And with the forward-looking leadership and commitment to excellence and innovation we expect from the airport’s new director, Izzy Bonilla, there will only be more good news coming out of GMIA.”
