Four Wisconsin golf courses are listed in Golf Digest’s latest biennial ranking of America’s 100 greatest golf courses.
The Wisconsin courses on the list include:
- 21. Whistling Straits (Straits course)
- 42. Erin Hills
- 74. Milwaukee Country Club
- 97. Blackwolf Run (River course)
Whistling Straits, located along Lake Michigan north of Sheboygan, was the site of the 2004, 2010 and 2015 PGA Championship tournaments and will be the host of the 2020 Ryder Cup.
Erin Hills, located in the Town of Erin in Washington County, was the site of the 2017 U.S. Open.
Milwaukee Country Club is a private club located in River Hills.
Blackwolf Run is located in the village of Kohler and was the site of the 1998 and 2012 U.S. Women’s Open.
There are also six Chicago-area golf courses on the Golf Digest list of America’s 100 best courses: Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton (14), Butler National Golf Club in Oak Brook (47), Medinah Country Club in Medinah (53), Shoreacres in Lake Bluff (55), Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields (75) and Rich Harvest Links in Sugar Grove (94). All of those are private clubs.
