A real estate investor and developer is putting forward plans to build 118 apartment units in Oak Creek. According to filings with the city, the apartment buildings would be built on roughly 10.8 acres south of West Ryan Road, between South Howell Avenue and I-94. The site is now farmland. Milwaukee-based Revel Investments is the applicant. The project consists of four apartment buildings, a clubhouse and underground parking. The buildings would contain 56 one-bedroom, 54 two-bedroom and eight three-bedroom units. It would have 260 parking stalls, between underground and surface parking. Other features include a splash pad, fire pit, solar panels, electric car charging stations and outdoor recreation areas. A site plan also shows a dog park, Bocce courts, an outdoor fitness area, playground and an outdoor patio and grilling area. Eight of the units would be townhouses. They would be attached to the pair of two-story buildings. The other two buildings would be three stories tall. Steve Pape, managing partner of Revel Investments, said the $30 million project is slated to break ground next spring and take about 12 months to finish. Revel has applied for a zoning change to allow for the development to take place. The rezoning would need the approval of the Oak Creek Common Council. This makes Revel's second ground-up development project. It is also working on a 24-unit apartment building northwest of West Bluemound and North Brookfield roads, in the town of Brookfield. Pape said his firm targets development opportunities Milwaukee-area communities with strong school systems and "forward-thinking leadership." "Oak Creek definitely fit that description," he said. Revel was also attracted to Oak Creek because of the number of jobs moving to the I-94 corridor in Kenosha, Racine and southern Milwaukee counties. Several massive industrial buildings and business parks have been created along the corridor in recent years. They're being built for companies like Amazon, Uline and Foxconn. "This is right at the front door of that (development activity), and we just love the market," he said.
