Milwaukee-based Marietta Investment Partners is under new ownership and leadership after 20 years in business, the investment advisory firm announced. Marietta Investment Partners is an independent registered investment advisor that designs customized investment portfolios for individuals and institutional investors. John Evans, who founded the firm in 2000, has transitioned leadership and ownership of the company to six partners. Under the new ownership structure, each partner will own an equal amount of equity in the company, said Charles Evans, Marietta Investment Partners partner and director. "Marietta is financing the transition," said Charles Evans, who is the son of John Evans. "In other words, the firm took on debt to buy my father out." The six partners include Mary Allmon, Lori Brook, Robert Draper, Charles Evans, Amanda Grams and Jonathan Smucker. John Evans will remain at the firm and continue to serve clients and oversee the firm’s investment process. “All of us have been working as a team at Marietta for years and will continue the firm’s culture and customized investment solutions,” said Allmon, partner and portfolio manager. “Our clients can have confidence that we will use the same investment process that John Evans created and continues to support.” The internal succession plan was put in place to prepare the business for another generation of existence and to retain the company’s talent, Charles Evans said. “We wanted to provide an opportunity for members of the business to gain access to partnership as an incentive to those employees and to make the business grow and succeed,” he said. “It was obvious that an equity position or ownership would be a great way to do that.”
