The Milwaukee Bucks and the city of Milwaukee today announced that J.H. Findorff & Son Inc., which has offices in Madison and Milwaukee, will be the construction manager for the parking structure that will be built for the new arena in downtown Milwaukee.
Milwaukee-based engineering firm GRAEF and Milwaukee-based architecture firm American Design Inc. will comprise the design team for the project. GRAEF’s team will also include Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Walker Parking Consultants, Milwaukee-based Kapur and Associates and Kansas City-based HNTB.
The six-story parking structure will have 1,250 parking spaces and will be located between Juneau Avenue, McKinley Avenue, Fifth Street and Sixth Street, just north of the new arena. The parking structure will be owned by the city.
The parking structure will also have commercial space on the first floor. The Bucks announced they have issued a request for interest and qualifications for local firms interested in the space.
“This is another important step forward in our vision for this public-private partnership to transform a previously underutilized portion of the city,” Bucks President Peter Feigin said. “We’re thrilled that three local firms, all of which are leaders in their respective fields, will be joining our team, and look forward to collaborating on a development that will provide needed parking for the arena while simultaneously incorporating mixed-use development that will add to the vibrancy of this new district.”
