Next month will mark the end of the season for Lux Domes, the popular winterized rooftop dining experience that made its debut late last year at Cafe Benelux in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward.

The concept, which includes six private, heated domes that were installed on the rooftop at the restaurant in late November, has been met with high demand this winter, with the first round of reservations selling out in 24 hours.

For $200, groups of up to eight people can reserve the domes for 90-minute time slots on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Reservations can be made online for times available through its last service day, which will be Sunday, March 3, Lowlands Group announced today.

“We took a gamble that Milwaukeeans wanted a new, fun outlet in our cold, dark winter months,” said Dan Herwig, director of brand and marketing for Lowlands Group. “The response we received was incredible, and we’re really happy that so many people were able to come out to enjoy this novel winter experience.”

The concept will likely return next year, possibly expanding to other Lowlands Group locations, according to the announcement.

A reservation includes a complimentary round of seasonal beverages, such as hot toddies, mulled wine or hot cocoa, and souvenir mugs for the whole group.

Lux Domes offers a menu with additional food and beverage offerings such as Colectivo coffee, champagne, and sharable platters of cheese, seafood and meat, which can be ordered with an additional cost.
