The number of monthly economic indicators posting gains in September in the latest Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce economic report dipped to 13 out of 23, down from 14 in August and 17 in May.
“Metro Milwaukee’s local economic trend has fallen into a bit of a lull,” said Bret Mayborne, the MMAC’s economic research director. “While a majority of indicators are still pointing upward, the absolute number of positives has fallen to its smallest number in over three years.”
Nonfarm jobs in the metro area rose 1.1 percent in September vs. year-ago levels, the 60th consecutive month of year-over-year gains.
New unemployment compensation claims in the metro area fell 13.9 percent in September to 3,447. The number of unemployed in the area dropped 24.2 percent to 10,800.
Air passenger usage of Mitchell International Airport rose 2.1 percent in September compared to September of 2014. September was only the third month in the last year of year-over-year passenger increase at the airport.
The number of homes sold in the area increased 11.4 percent in September to 1,424.
New car registrations fell for the third time in four months, falling 6.6 percent in September to 2,787.
