Festival Foods buys former Pick ‘n Save building in West Allis

Follows recent purchase of former Target in Greenfield

Festival Foods has purchased its latest property in the Milwaukee area, with the recent acquisition of the former Pick ‘n Save building in West Allis.

According to state records, an affiliate of the De Pere-based grocery chain purchased the building at 11111 W. Greenfield Ave. and an outlot building at 11013 W. Greenfield Ave. for $4.5 million. The seller is Benidt Investments West Allis LLC.

Festival acknowledged a store would eventually be opened there, though it had no specific timeline as to when that would happen.

“We are hopeful for a future store, but we have not timeline for that potential store yet,” Brian Stenzel, Festival community involvement senior director, said in a statement.

The grocery store building at 11111 W. Greenfield Ave. was constructed in 1983, and totals roughly 93,400 square feet, according to city records. In 2014, Roundy’s closed the Pick ‘n Save store that had occupied the building.

Bryant & Stratton College previously considered relocating there, but the deal never went through and the college opted to instead expand its current Wauwatosa location.

Festival has had its eyes set on the Milwaukee market of late. Earlier this year, it purchased a former Target store at 4777 S. 27th St., Greenfield, for $4 million. It also opened its new Hales Corners location in November.

In addition to the Hales Corners store, Festival also has locations in southeastern Wisconsin in Kenosha, Mount Pleasant, Sheboygan and Somers.
