A new sports bar could be coming to the first-floor restaurant space at 1123 N. Water St. in downtown Milwaukee, recently vacated by Buffalo Wild Wings.

Dino Shackelford, Jr., of West Allis, recently applied for an occupancy permit for the 5,522-square-foot space at the historic Design Center building. Buffalo Wild Wings had occupied the space for several years before closing near the end of last year.

Shackelford said he and his business partner are exploring opening a new sports bar at the location. Dubbed Enigma Sports Bar the location would be Shackelford’s second venture in the Milwaukee area.

A finance manager at a car dealership, Shackelford previously operated Love’s Sports Bar at 4671 S Lake Drive in Cudahy, which has since closed, he said.

While he and his business partner are still in exploring this next venture – looking at the 1123 N. Water St. space and determining what work might be required to open a new business there – the hope would be to open the new bar this summer if everything works out, Shackelford said.
