Elmbrook Humane Society holding ‘Paint Your Pet’ event

Fundraiser hosted by The Corked Canvas

If you’re interested in drinking a glass of wine and painting a portrait of your dog or cat , the Elmbrook Humane Society is holding a fundraiser that will give you an opportunity to do exactly that.

The event, called “Paint Your Pet,” will be held May 5 at The Corked Canvas in Brookfield at 5 p.m.

The event will also include a silent auction for pet-themed baskets and paintings donated by The Corked Canvas’s staff of professional artists.

“I always enjoy seeing two local businesses working together for a great cause,” said Cassandra Smith, president of the Elmbrook Humane Society’s Emerging Leader Board. “Not only do animal lovers get to create a keepsake of their pet, but it will be a relaxing event to unwind after the work day. This is a first of its kind event for the Elmbrook community and I look forward to other community members to discover the amazing work that staff at EBHS does.”

The Corked Canvas is a paint and sip studio opened in 2015 that gives patrons a chance to drink wine and paint. The studio also offers painting classes and hosts events.

Those who participate in the event will be asked to email a photo of the pet they wish to paint to Kristy Goggio, owner of The Corked Canvas, before the event. Then, the studio’s artists will sketch a caricature of the pet on a canvas for pet-owners to fill in with whatever colors they chose. Those who wish to paint multiple pets can do so on a larger canvas.

“We are grateful for community partners like (owners) Kristy and E.C. Goggio who help us fulfill our mission to provide shelter for homeless animals, promote the human animal bond, and prevent animal cruelty and neglect,” said Elmbrook Humane Society Executive Director Healther Gehrke.

The Corked Canvas is located at 17000 W. Bluemound Road.
