American Society of Clinical Oncology has named Dr. Michael Thompson, M.D., a board-certified hematologist and oncologist with Advocate Aurora Health, to its board of directors. He will serve a four-year term, beginning at the ASCO annual meeting in June 2019.
Thompson serves as the medical director for Aurora Health Care’s Early Phase Cancer Research Program and is also co-director of the Aurora Oncology Precision Medicine Program.
“Dr. Thompson works tirelessly to support both his patients, and the research efforts to treat cancer,” said Dr. James Weese, vice president of Aurora Cancer Care. “This honor will only expand Dr. Thompson’s ability to serve the needs of patients and doctors”
In March 2018, Thompson was named a Fellow of the ASCO (FASCO), recognizing his work in the field of oncology. He sees patients primarily at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. He is also an active researcher whose interests include hematologic or blood cancers.
