Doubling your donation with a matching gift

Many people aren’t aware that a lot of employers offer programs through which they’ll match their employees’ charitable contributions, dollar for dollar, up to a certain amount. These matching gift programs are a great way to double your contribution to your favorite cause or charity.

According to HEP, a company that works with organizations to develop matching gift programs, more than half of Fortune 500 companies offer to match their employee’s charitable gifts. And more than 10 percent of companies offer matches of 2 to 1 – that is, your $100 gift will result in an extra $200 from your employer to the charity.
