- The Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Mary L. Nohl Fund awarded $338,000 to 20Â visual arts and arts education programs in the Milwaukee area:
- $150,000 was given to the Bradley Family Foundation to support its Individual Artists Fellowship Program and a layered art project to be held at the Lynden Sculpture Garden.
- La Casa de Esperanza received $20,000 to support construction of a 14-foot mosaic mural on the entrance facade of La Casa’s new charter school.
- Friends of Hank Aaron State Trail received $15,000 to create a permanent public art display commemorating the history of the Milwaukee Road, one of the city’s largest employers in the early 20th Century.
- The Milwaukee Art Museum received $15,000 to help launch a teen leadership program.
- Woodland Pattern book Center received $15,000 for an 18-month artists-in-residence program.
- The Milwaukee Jewish Federation received $12,000 to support the Jewish Museum Milwaukee’s exhibit of Beth Lipman, a Jewish artist based in Wisconsin who has been exhibited internationally and received multiple awards.
- The Wisconsin Black Historical Society Museum received $12,000 to restore a mural on the west exterior wall of its building near the intersection of North 26th Street and West Center Street.
- The American Civil Liberties Union of Wisconsin Foundation received $10,000 toward putting on a one-day conference for high school students at the University of Wisconsin — Milwaukee called the Youth Social Justice Forum.
- RedLine Milwaukee received $10,000 for its 2016-17 programs.
- Latino Arts received $10,000 to support its 2016-17 visual arts exhibitions.
- The Milwaukee Artist Resource Network received $10,000 to host professional development “MARNsalons.”
- Riverworks Development Corporation received $10,000 to create three murals on the recently extended Beerline Railway Trail.
- True Skool received $10,000 for mural restoration projects and leadership workshops.
- Walker’s Point Center for the arts received $10,000 for its 2016-17 exhibition season.
- Benedict Center received $7,500 to support sessions with local artists Elizabeth Vogt and Muneer Bahaudeen.
- Milwaukee Environmental Consortium received $7,500 to offer art-integrated projects at the Milwaukee Water Commons.
- COA Youth & Family Centers received $5,000 to create a youth-designed mural at the Goldin Center in the Amani neighborhood.
- HeartLove Place received $5,000 for a 10-week summer art program for kids ages 11-13.
- SHARP Literacy received $4,000 to partner with Journey House on a mural project.
- TCF National bank raised $175,000 to support March of Dimes, a nonprofit focused on preventing premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality. The money was donated by customers and employees at 180 branches in Wisconsin and Illinois.
- Foti Chiropractic in Wauwatosa donated $6,000 to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin’s 2016 fundraising campaign.
