Meta House, of Milwaukee, has been named the recipient of Diversified Insurance Solutions’ third 2015 SPARK Grant, valued at $5,000.
Grant dollars will support Meta House’s gamut of client activities, including Family Nights, Saturday outings and Recovery Month initiatives. The nonprofit organization offers substance abuse treatment services to women working to overcome addiction and rebuild their families’ lives. Last year, the organization aided more than 500 women and close to 250 children.
The nonprofit’s host of activities gives women and children a safe outlet for fun. Family Nights are held quarterly and feature a family meal and a photo booth along with an activity, such as dancing, karaoke or carnival games.
“For women in recovery, doing something fun while sober isn’t a familiar experience,” Amy Lindner, president and chief executive officer of Meta House, said in a statement. “As part of their recovery, the women need to discover what activities feel good and are good for them and their children. Since many of our families have extremely limited means, it’s important that we provide free, family-friendly activities for them to enjoy.”

Diversified Insurance Solutions, based in Brookfield, established its SPARK Grant program two years ago as a way to help nonprofit organizations that facilitate innovation programming while addressing community needs and issues. The firm prefers to funnel dollars into specific programs, events or actions.
Diversified Insurance Solutions will continue to collect SPARK Grant requests from nonprofits through Sept. 25.
