Delta to increase daily flights between Milwaukee and Boston

Airline will add second daily flight beginning next June

Delta Air Lines will add a second daily direct flight between Milwaukee and Boston starting June 8, 2017.

General Mitchell International Airport announced the move Monday, citing growing demand for business travel between the two cities called for both morning and evening departures.

“We’re seeing growing demand for business travel between Boston and key markets like Milwaukee,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s vice president of network planning. “We’re meeting that demand with our industry-leading operational performance as well as innovative products and service.”

Flights currently depart Milwaukee for Boston at 7:05 a.m.

“Delta is the second-largest carrier at MKE and has a strong, loyal following here,” said Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele in a statement released Monday. “This additional business-friendly schedule will give our travelers even more ways to travel to New England. The additional Boston flights also allow for easy one-stop connections from Milwaukee to Delta’s international network, including London, Paris and Amsterdam.”

The added flight comes after months of strong passenger traffic numbers at Mitchell International. As of June, passenger traffic was up more than 3 percent compared to 2015.

Last week, Frontier Airlines announced plans to add nonstop seasonal flights from Milwaukee to Phoenix starting this winter.

Frontier has added a total of four nonstop flight routes out of Milwaukee in 2016, to Atlanta, Dallas and Philadelphia. Last year, Frontier added daily nonstop flights from Mitchell international to Orlando and Las Vegas, and also brought back seasonal nonstop flights to Fort Myers, Florida.
