Delta Defense plans to build new HQ facility in West Bend

West Bend-based Delta Defense LLC, which provides insurance and training materials for firearms owners, announced plans to build a new 65,000-square-foot headquarters facility.

The company currently occupies a total of 30,000 square feet at its main headquarters at 300 S. 6th St. in downtown West Bend and at a fulfillment center in the Northwest Business Park in Jackson.

Delta Defense said it is in discussion with West Bend city officials about a possible location for its new headquarters. The company said its location decision, “will be contingent upon potential incentives available from the city, county and state.”

The company said it is working with Milwaukee-based architecture firm Kahler Slater and Minneapolis-based development firm The Opus Group to develop, design and build the new facility.
Delta Defense moved its headquarters in 2013 from Jackson to the former Museum of Wisconsin Art building in West Bend. The company said it has had annual sales growth of 45 percent and a 60 percent increase in employment during the last two years. The company expects to have 200 employees within the next five years.

The main product offered by Delta Defense is membership in the United States Concealed Carry Association. USCCA membership has grown more than 80 percent the last two years, the company says.

“We’re seeing an explosion of interest when it comes to carrying a gun for self-defense,” said Tim Schmidt, president and CEO of Delta Defense. “More and more people are seeking education and training for themselves and their families. That means more opportunity for Delta Defense and the USCCA to provide these services to responsible men and women all across the country.”

Schmidt founded Delta Defense in 2004.
