Home Ideas Entrepreneurship & Small Business Dear President Obama and associates:

Dear President Obama and associates:

I was raised with the knowledge that you must work hard for whatever you want in life.

Since the age of 15, I have worked consistently. My first job being as a Carhop at an A&W Root beer Stand in South Milwaukee Wisconsin. The following years I worked in restaurant management throughout the Milwaukee area.

At the age of, 27, I found myself a single mom (my husband deserted my 1 year old son and I). Trying to survive without receiving any child support, I briefly had to accept ADC (Assistance for Dependent Children).

Knowing that I must continue to pursue my career objectives, I enrolled at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee as an adult student with a Major in Communications. During my enrollment, I absorbed every opportunity available regarding career advancement. I listened to a very dynamic speaker, Ron Legro who told me that I must pursue my objectives without waiting to have my diploma in hand. As I raised my young son, waitressed and attended school, I was hired by a large environmental corporation. As the first woman sales executive for the company in the state of, Wisconsin; I became very successful before leaving to begin my own company in, 2000.

I started LK Marketing to maintain the level of professionalism I strived to obtain for all those years while at the same time be more available for my 3 young sons; (I had since remarried and had 2 more sons). I needed to design a professional service that would continue to (hopefully) bring in 50% of our household income. I was on a mission to have it all and I believe I was succeeding.

During that same time that I started my company, the advancement in technology was allowing companies to become, “virtual”. I could work with my new clients from my own home office; yet provide the impression that I was just down the hall from them. Utilizing email, web-based programs such as, GoToMeeting & QuickBase and others, I provided the same services to my clients as if I was under their roof and not over 1,000 miles away! LK Marketing provides business to business sales services like appointment setting to companies across the US. Because of our services, our clients realize increased revenue.

I believe that there is a wealth of individuals who have worked 50+ hours per week for years; yet wish they had more time to spend with their children. In 2004, I began to bring on individuals to provide these B2B sales services to our clients. Most of us work from our own home offices – using our own equipment such as a computer and land line phone. We incur our own expenses – phone line, long distance, internet access, office supplies… We chose how many hours per week we wish to work; we chose when we want to work and what clients we want to work for. If we are not productive, we lose the client(s) and therefore we lose that income.

Last year, due to demand, I opened a physical office here in, Muskego Wisconsin. This is available for the training of new callers and for any callers wanting not to work from their home office. My company has amazing potential if it was in an environment that encouraged small business and not smash it.

Please contact me at your convenience to further discuss how we may assist Wisconsin businesses have a fighting chance.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Sem Kaminski
