Construction begins on new office building in Hartland

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday for a new, two-story, 29,500-square-foot office building that will be built on a vacant lot at the northwest corner of Walnut Ridge Drive and Richards Road in Hartland’s Bark River Commerce Center.

The building will be owned by Robert and Terri Cardenas, the founders of R. C. Insurance Services Inc., and their son, Jeff Cardenas, and business associate, Dimas Ocampo.

R. C. Insurance Services, an independent insurance agency, will move its offices from 130 E. Capitol Drive in downtown Hartland to occupy about 6,500 square feet of space in the new building, which is expected to be complete by July 1.

AQS Inc., a policy administration solution company to the insurance industry, will occupy 15,000 square feet of space in the building, in addition to its current location at 1325 Walnut Ridge Drive. About 6,000 square feet in the building remains available for lease. Brookfield-based Briohn Building Corp. is the general contractor for the building.
