Conference to shed light on servant leadership

BizTimes Media invites its readers to attend a free conference to learn about the concept of servant leadership.
The leaders of companies and community organizations are encouraged to attend the event, which will take place on Tuesday, March 20, at the Milwaukee Theatre in downtown Milwaukee from 8 to 10:30 a.m.
The conference is free and open to the public.
The guest speaker of the conference will be James C. Hunter of J.D. Hunter Associates. Hunter is the author of “The Servant Leader and The World’s Most Powerful Leadership Principle.”
Hunter works with teams on community-building principles for health care, manufacturing, hospitality, faith-based and other organizations. His clients include all four branches of the U.S. military, American Express, Best Buy, Proctor & Gamble, Federal Express and the American Medical Association.
Hunter helps organizations draw a deeper understanding and commitment to the principle of servant leadership.
Attendees of the conference will learn: the principles of servant leadership; the differences between leading with power and leading with authority; and the differences between management and leadership. The lessons will help organizations improve productivity, creativity, employee commitment, employee retention, customer service, customer satisfaction and their bottom line.
The organizations partnering to present the conference in Milwaukee include: PieperPower, BizTimes, Alverno College, the Cardinal Stritch University Leadership Center, Concordia University, the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), the Marquette University College of Professional Studies, Ministry Health Care, Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company Inc. and Wisconsin Lutheran College.
Richard Pieper, a longtime volunteer advocate for the concept of servant leadership in Wisconsin, organized the event to improve the effectiveness of company and community leaders in the Milwaukee event. Pieper is the non-executive chairman of PPC Partners Inc., the Milwaukee-based parent company of PieperPower.
