Concordia receives grant for associate degree program

Concordia University Wisconsin Mequon recently received a $150,000 donation from the Siebert Lutheran Foundation in Brookfield. The money will be used to help fund minority scholarships and support services for Concordia’s Design Your Future program (DYF).
“We’re proud to support Concordia’s Design Your Future program,” said Ron Jones, president of Siebert Lutheran Foundation. “This program empowers young people to make better and more responsible lifelong decisions that will benefit themselves, their families, and communities.”
The DYF program is run out of Concordia’s Midtown campus on the north side of Milwaukee. The program allows students an opportunity to earn an associates degree in business management, criminal justice, liberal arts or early childhood education. Upon completion of a degree, students are able to transition to another college or university of their choice.
“We are extremely pleased to have received this generous endorsement from the Siebert Lutheran Foundation,” said Dr. Michael Besch, vice president of Academic Operations at Concordia. “More than any other organization, Siebert has been instrumental in our effort to serve traditional college-aged students in Milwaukee’s central city. This program has made a real difference in the lives of our students and will continue to do so long into the future.”
This is the fifth donation by Siebert to DYF since the program’s inception in 2007.
