Wisconsin motorists are advised about some major changes in traffic patterns through Milwaukee’s Mitchell Interchange that will go into effect at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5.
At that time, a new ramp will open that will divert much of the southbound traffic on Interstate 43/94. The ramp will connect to the southbound exits at Layton Avenue, the Airport Spur and College Avenue. When approaching the Mitchell Interchange, the I-43/94 southbound traffic using those exits should use the center lane to access the new ramp.
Through traffic going south will remain in the left lanes, and traffic going west on I-894 will exit to the right.
Southbound drivers who miss the new ramp will not be able exit the freeway again until Rawson Avenue in Oak Creek.
Also, the temporary access ramp from southbound I-43/94 East to the southbound collector-distributor roadway and College Avenue will be permanently closed.
