CertaSite has acquired fire protection company
Starfire Systems and Starfire Extinguisher, a family-owned business based in Franklin.
CertaSite is a new commercial fire protection company that provides businesses with tech-based fire and life safety system solutions. The company’s products range from fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems and fire alarms to fire pumps, sprinkler systems and backflow devices.
CertaSite also focuses on code compliance and building safety while also providing its clients with 24/7 system monitoring, according to the company’s website.
With 30 years rooted in Franklin, Star Fire Systems and Starfire Extinguisher provided its customers with special hazards fire suppression and detection and emergency lighting solutions.
The acquisition will allow CertaSite to grow its customer base and expand into new markets under the CertSite platform.
As part of the acquisition, 21 Star Fire Systems and Starfire Extinguisher employees will join CertaSite, including company owners Sue Malek and Darrel Malek, according to a press release.
“We are committed to preserving the legacy that these dedicated professionals built, and we recognize and respect their strong local presence, said Jeff Wyatt, CertaSite chief executive officer. “Our team will provide our new employees with development and career advancement, and expanded services and support to customers.”
Wyatt has more than 30 years of experience in the fire protection and life safety industry and most recently served as president of Koorsen Fire & Security, one of the largest privately owned life safety companies in the industry.
He started his career in the profession as an installation technician and is a veteran of the United States Navy. Wyatt was recruited to lead CertaSite by The Riverside Company, a global private equity firm that is CertaSite’s primary investor.
Although this is CertaSite’s first acquisition in Wisconsin, the company has already acquired 10 fire protection and life safety companies since the business was founded in 2018.
