Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa, has announced that Catherine (Katie) M. Burns will be joining the organization as vice president of Network Strategy and Development.

The vice president of Network Strategy and Development is a new position that will develop and direct the current network and payer contracting strategies as they evolve to include the transition to value- and risk-based contracting.

In the role, Burns will lead network strategy, including access analysis and network operations, and support decision-makers with analysis related to reimbursement and unit cost management. She will also oversee the coordination and negotiation for the payer contracting department.

Burns comes to Children’s from UnitedHealthcare of Wisconsin, where she served as vice president of Network Management. In this role, she manages a team of 25 Wisconsin contracting and provider relations professionals, and oversees unit cost budget for more than 100 hospitals and 22,000 providers in Wisconsin.

Burns holds a post-baccalaureate bachelor’s in management information systems from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a bachelor’s in marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
