“I’m honored to have had the opportunity to lead such a talented team of faculty and staff at Carroll,” Hastad said in a statement released Tuesday morning. “We’ve accomplished many significant ‘firsts’ together over the years and Nancy and I are grateful for the experiences we’ve been able to share with our Carroll family.”

Hastad said he is retiring to spend more time with family and friends. He also plans to travel with his wife, Nancy.

During his tenure, Hastad oversaw the school’s re-branding effort to change its name from Carroll College to Carroll University. The school completed more than $100 million in renovations to campus facilities and raised $50 million through the largest endowment campaign in its history under Hastad’s direction.
