Carroll taps longtime Waukesha officer to lead public safety

Kober brings two decades of law enforcement experience

Law enforcement veteran Kevin Kober has been named director of public safety at Carroll University in Waukesha.

Kober, whose appointment is effective on Jan. 4, brings about two decades of experience in Waukesha law enforcement to the university. He is joining the school’s public safety am after serving as patrol division commander with the City of Waukesha Police Department.

At the helm of campus public safety, Kober will reinforce the safety and security of students, faculty and staff and will also ensure the school’s public safety department continues to partner with local law enforcement.

Kober joined the City of Waukesha Police Department as a police officer in 1996 and has expertise in leadership, crisis management and response, community relations, program and department building, and team building. Throughout his career in Waukesha, he has been honored for excellence in law enforcement, receiving recognition from the Waukesha Police Department’s Citizen’s Academy, Citizen’s Academy Alumni Association and the Waukesha Sheriff’s Department. He also belongs to the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National Tactical Officers Association and the Association of SWAT Personnel Wisconsin.

“I’m confident my leadership and law enforcement experience have prepared me for this next step in my career,” Kober said in a press release.

Kober, who has completed advanced training programs with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Quantico, Va., is currently working toward a master’s degree in leadership and organizational development at the University of Virginia.

Carroll University conducted a national search for a new public safety director.

“Kevin’s extensive experience in law enforcement, his advancement through the Waukesha Police department, the depth and breadth of his responsibilities there, his commitment to ongoing training and his leadership abilities made him stand out in a field of very qualified applicants,” said Ron Lostetter, Carroll’s vice president of finance and administrative services.
