Mission Viejo, Calif.-based The Ensign Group Inc. announced today it has acquired 15 Wisconsin assisted living facilities, including several in the metropolitan Milwaukee area. The transaction was completed Saturday.
Among the assisted living centers acquired are: Brenwood Park Assisted Living in Franklin; Kenosha Senior Living in Kenosha; Racine Commons Assisted Living in Racine; Riverview Village Senior Living in Menomonee Falls; and The Shores of Sheboygan Assisted Living in Sheboygan.
The Ensign Group is the parent company of the Ensign group of 176 skilled nursing, rehabilitative care services, home health care, hospice care, assisted living and urgent care companies. It has taken on a long-term master lease for the facilities, which includes an option to purchase the real estate.
“This acquisition represents a unique opportunity to bolster our footprint in the State of Wisconsin,” said Christopher Christensen, Ensign’s president and chief executive officer. “We are excited to welcome a team of caregivers devoted to providing the best care possible while serving the residents, their families and the local community,” he added.
“We are fortunate to add a wonderful team to the Ensign family and will remain focused on continuing to serve the needs of this community,” said John Gurrieri, president of Bridgestone Living LLC, Ensign’s seniors housing subsidiary.
Ensign expects that these facilities, which had a combined 83 percent occupancy rate at the time of the acquisition, to be mildly accretive to earnings in 2015.
