C.H. Coakley food drive tallies 21,000 pounds of food

With help from more than 50 area businesses, the fifth annual “Dinner on the Mayflower” citywide food drive organized by Milwaukee-based C.H. Coakley & Co., collected 21,000 pounds of nonperishable food items in support of Hunger Task Force.

Last year’s drive collected 5,500 pounds of food.

“Our citywide food drive was so successful this year because people in Milwaukee have big hearts and want to help,” said Michael Coakley, managing partner at C.H. Coakley, a business management solutions firm. “Also, our staff really hit the ground running this year, calling on our clients to take part in this year’s food drive.”

As in past years, the 2013 drive supplied participating business sites with food barrels in which to place food items donated by employees, clients and the public. C.H. Coakley delivered the barrels at the end of October and recollected them on Nov. 21 with its Mayflower trucks.

The company delivered more than 75 barrels around the city, according to Coakley.

“Most of them were full when we picked them up,” he said.

This year’s participating businesses were:
