The Wisconsin YES! youth business plan contest is accepting entries from students with science and technology ideas that want to use them to create business plans.
The contest, sponsored by the Wisconsin Technology Council, the WEA Trust and IBM, aims to generate student interest in science and technology fields and encourage independent and creative problem solving.
Gov. Scott Walker hailed the YES! contest as a tool to advance science, technology engineering and math education, which is vital to the intellectual and economic future of the state. He declared this week “Celebration of STEM Education Week.”
“This announcement recognizing the importance of STEM education reinforces the same spirit of the innovative efforts that students who apply for Wisconsin YES! demonstrate,” said Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council.
Public, private and home-schooled high school students are eligible for the contest. Entries will be accepted through Monday, March 17.
Wisconsin professionals will serve as judges in the contest, and provide feedback to students along the way.
The winning student or team will present the winning idea at the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference in Madison on June 4.
