Milwaukee Downtown Business Improvement District has launched a new Web site with resources for a variety of audiences, including the downtown business community, residents, visitors, media and other neighborhood districts. The site is at www.milwaukeedowntown.com. It was designed by OnMilwaukee.com.
Jack Quinlevan, a former vice president at the Milwaukee Trammell Crow office, has opened Quinlevan Commercial Real Estate at 2675 N. Mayfair Rd. in Wauwatosa. The firm will focus on representation of office tenants in their lease renewals or in new lease negotiations. Quinlevan holds a bachelor’s degree from UW-Milwaukee and an MBA and law degree from Marquette University.
Eagle Enterprises of Oconomowoc has been awarded a franchise for the SaniGLAZE tile and grout restoration and maintenance system by SaniGLAZE International of Jacksonville, Fla. The system is used in the maintenance industry to eliminate tile grout discoloration and odors in tiled areas, and prevent those problems from reoccurring, said Richard Gottheardt, owner of Eagle Enterprises, at 37984 Delafield Rd.
Newman Chevrolet in Cedarburg will mark its 25th anniversary this year with the completion of a 7,000-square-foot addition, said Gary Newman, company president. The business is at 1181 Wauwatosa Rd. in the Town of Cedarburg. The project includes a new drive-in write-up area for vehicles being brought in for service. That area will also serve as an extension of the showroom, allowing customers to take delivery of their vehicles inside. The customer lounge has doubled in sie to include an area for children to play and for customers to access the Internet with their laptop computers. Also included are eight new technical repair stals and a detail area with a new car wash and polishing machine for preparing vehicles for customer delivery. The expansion increases the size of the dealership to more than 40,000 square feet. "This is our sixth addition since we opened in 1978," Newman said. The dealership is also adding a 21,000-square-foot lighted area to its parking lot, for an additional 75 cars.
We Energies’ "energy for tomorrow" program has been named one of the top 10 such programs in the US by the US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Through the program, customers can select to financially support additional electrical production from renewable resources such as solar and wind. More han 300 utilities in 32 states now offer such a program. Since the mid-1990s when "energy for tomorrow" was introduced here, more than 13,000 customers have signed up for the program.
The South Eastern Chamber United in Business – the Oak Creek and Franklin chambers of commerce, has launched a new Web site, www.secub.net.
John A. Mellowes, chairman and CEO of Charter Manufacturing Co., has been named Milwaukee’s Distinguished Executive of the Year by Junior Achievement of Wisconsin. Also honored was Valerie Daniels-Carter, president and CEO of V&J Holding Companies. She was given the Peak Performer Award. Manpower was given the Spirit of Achievement Award.
The City of Burlington will receive a $42,000 Blight Elimination and Brownfield Redevelopment grant from the state to help pay for an environmental assessment of the former Bel-Mur Enterprises facility. The grant money will leverage $1.4 million in additional investment in the project.
More than $32,000 in scholarships and awards were granted to graduate and undergraduate students at the recent annual American Foundry Society (AFS) Regional Conference in Milwaukee. The awards are through scholarship programs supported by the AFS Wisconsin and Northeast chapters. Twenty-six awards ranging from $500 to $3,000 each were presented to students at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Madison, Platteville and Parkside. Scholarships and awards also were given to individuals at MATC, Marquette University, Southside Scholarship Foundation and Career Options of Milwaukee, the University of Alabama, and the University of St. Thomas.
