The Milwaukee Bucks have released a second group of renderings today, this time showing the design plans for the new training center that the team plans to build at the west end of the Park East corridor in downtown Milwaukee.
The renderings are part of detailed plans submitted today by the NBA franchise to the city for the training center, which will be located west of North Sixth Street, between West Juneau Avenue and West McKinley Avenue.
The training center is part of the overall plan for a $1 billion mixed-use arena district that will be anchored by the $500 million new Bucks arena and an additional $500 million in ancillary development around the new arena, which will include the training center.
Earlier today the Bucks unveiled updated renderings for the arena.
The new training center, which will be two-stories high, will include approximately 55,000-square-feet of space for team use. Construction on the center will begin in June.
“Our new training center will symbolize the championship-caliber focus and commitment to excellence that will become the hallmarks of Bucks basketball,” said Bucks president Peter Feigin. “This state-of-the-art facility for our players and basketball staff will return the year-round home of Bucks basketball to downtown Milwaukee where it belongs.”
The center will include two full-sized courts, a weight room, a hydrotherapy and medical training area, video replay viewing space, a full-service kitchen and parking for the players.
Once the training center is completed in July 2017, the Bucks will vacate their training facilities at the Cousins Center in St. Francis, where they have practiced since 1997.
The training center is designed to accommodate additional commercial tenants within its footprint and will be a catalyst for additional commercial ventures to begin activating in this new community, Feigin said.
The new Bucks training center was designed by Milwaukee-based Eppstein Uhen Architects and Kansas City-based Populous. Janesville-based JP Cullen will manage construction.
