- Wednesday, Oct. 14 UW-Whitewater hosts the Public Relations and Social Media Summit from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on campus. More than 20 different social media strategists and public relations professionals will share insight on how their innovative companies are using Twitter, blogs, Facebook and other social media tactics to reach their strategic public relations goals. Paula Berg, director of emerging technologies for Southwest Airlines, will keynote the event.The all-day event costs $10 for students or faculty, $50 for UW-Whitewater alumni, nonprofit and government employees, and members of the Milwaukee Social Media Club. - Friday, Oct. 16 The Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce hosts its Legislative Update at Brookfield City Hall, 2000 N. Calhoun Road from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The update will feature Milwaukee County Executive, Scott Walker who will discuss Wisconsin tax burden and its impact on our business climate and ability to attract new business, wasteful spending in government and ways to streamline government, and creating an environment that attracts jobs. - Friday, Oct. 23 HOPE’s Fall Celebration at the Harley Davisdon Museum, 400 W. Canal St., beginning at 5:30 p.m. The organization will honor the teachers, staff members and community supporters who help more than 600 students find the drive to make it to college.
