Brookfield resident to run cross country for MS

Ashley Kumlien, formed the nonprofit organization MS Run the US, Inc., will raise awareness about MS by running from San Francisco, Calif., to New York City N.Y. over a six month time period. Marcus Theatres has also decided to support her in her journey.
Kumlien will appear at several Marcus Theatre locations during her 3,230 mile run across the U.S., including the Majestic Theater in Brookfield.
During her stops, Kumlien will conduct Q&A sessions in conjunction with special fundraising screenings of Without Limits, the Warner Brothers’ classic biography of Steve Prefontaine.
Without Limits, directed by Tom Cruise, is the film about the friendship between Prefontaine, one of the greatest long distance runners and his coach Bill Bowerman, who co-founded Nike, Inc.
Kumlien is a Brookfield resident and formed MS Run the US to honor her mother, Jill, who has been fighting Multiple Sclerosis for 27 years.
“Ashley’s courage and dedication to MS has inspired all of us at Marcus Theatres,” said Bruce Olson, president of Marcus Theatres. “Throughout our 75 year history, we have been committed to giving back to the communities in which we do business. As Ashley makes her journey across the U.S., we want to join her in her mission by encouraging individuals to support efforts to find a cure for this disabling disease.”
Admission for each film screening of Without Limits is $10, all proceeds from the film will be donated to the MS Run the US Foundation.
“My run across the U.S. to raise funds for MS is a challenge both physically and mentally. I want to thank Marcus Theatres for their support of my goal,” said Kumlein.
Updates, photos and a schedule of theatre appearances and locations will be posted on www.MSRuntheUS.com, and her Facebook page
