Wauwatosa-based Briggs & Stratton Corp, recently worked with the Milwaukee office for Cramer-Krasselt to develop an interactive website and email messaging service entitled “Backyard Bragging,” that allows friendly neighborhood, ‘best lawn’ rivalries to enter the digital age.
Briggs and Stratton manufactures gasoline engines for outdoor power equipment, including lawn mowers.
The website allows visitors to send personalized messages to friends and neighbors that brag about their own lawn or suggest that someone else’s lawn might need help.
“There is something in the DNA of Briggs & Stratton owners where they consider their yard’s appearance as a reflection of themselves,” said Anita Fisher, marketing communication manager at Briggs & Stratton. “We created the EddieGram program to give these people a venue to showcase their pride. And if they can help others shape up their lawns, even better.”
The service, which is powered by OddCast, uses a character named Engine Eddie, to deliver messages with full speech capabilities. Users can choose from a number of pre-recorded options or type in their own, they can also upload a photograph of their own face on Engine Eddie.
Beyond ‘EddieGram,’ Engine Eddie is also hosting a contest on www.enginesmatter.com where people can win a lawn mower every week through the end of May.
