Milwaukee-based Briggs & Stratton Corporation has promoted Mark Schwertfeger to senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective today, as his predecessor, David Rodgers, ascends to senior vice president and president, Engines Group, at the company.
Rodgers has worked as senior vice president and chief financial officer at Briggs & Stratton for the last five years. Prior to that role, he was vice president, finance, in 2010 and served as controller from 2006 to 2010. Before his tenure at Briggs & Stratton, he served as vice president, corporate controller, of Milwaukee-based Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc.
He is taking over for Joseph Wright, who plans to exit the company.

In his new role, he will operate as the company’s principal financial officer and principal accounting officer.
Each appointment was made by Briggs & Stratton’s board of directors. The company manufactures gasoline engines for outdoor power equipment.
