The Milwaukee Brewers are turning their final home game on Sept. 25 against the Cincinnati Reds into an elaborate fundraiser for four local philanthropic organizations called the “Give-Back Game.”
The organization announced Tuesday it will donate most of the ticket sales proceeds from the game to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, The MACC Fund and the Wisconsin Humane Society through a competition that asks fans to chose which of the four organizations they want their ticket money to benefit.
“Dating back to his first year of ownership of the Brewers, Mark Attanasio has always done something special for the final home game each year, an initiative to show his appreciation to our fans and the community,” said Brewers chief operating officer Rick Schlesinger. “We wanted to do something at another level this year, and out of that came the idea of the Give Back Game. It’s not just a gift to the fans, it’s an opportunity to raise significant funding for these four great partners.”
Here’s how the competition will work:
- Each ticket, which will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis starting with Field Level seats and ending at the Terrace Level, will cost $10.
- When they purchase their tickets, fans will be asked to chose which of the four charities they want the proceeds to benefit.
- Once all fan donations have been made, the Brewers will give an additional $50,000 to the organization that generated the most money.
- The remaining three organizations will each receive $20,000 from the Brewers on top of what they raise through ticket sales.
In addition to the $10 ticket price, fans will also be able to make contributions to the organization of their choice in $5 increments up to $50 when they purchase their ticket. The Brewers said people interested in donating more than $50 should contact the Miller Park box office.
An unspecified portion of each $10 ticket sale will be put into a general fund to be split among each charity. Season ticket holders can contact their Brewers representative to specify which charity they would like their donation to benefit.
