October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and a few local businesses are offering unique ways to help raise money for breast cancer research.
Salon partners with Aurora to ‘Think Pink’
Dawn Panfil, owner of New Berlin-based Hair and Body Solutions salon and spa has partnered with Aurora Health Care for the second year, to support their breast cancer awareness fundraiser with a kick off party Friday, Sept. 25, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The salon will sell “Think Pink” hair extensions for $15 that will go towards raising money for breast cancer awareness. All attendees will also receive free Redken products and will be entered in a drawing to win a $100 hair and body solutions salon & spa gift card. "With the Susan G. Komen Run for the Cure happening on Sunday at Milwaukee’s Lakefront, we wanted to participants to be able to wear their ‘Think Pink’ hair extensions for the event and show their true colors,” said Panfil. The salon will offer the hair extensions through the month of October, Panfil said. All proceeds will go towards Aurora’s Breast Health funds that support education and prevention. “Our goal is to increase our awareness to $50,000 this year,” Panfil said. “We are supporting this Cause because we know the money we raise will save lives. We have always believed in supporting the communities that support us. We have the means to make a difference and we are.”
