Black is finalist for Dallas job

Sue Black, the former director of parks, recreation and culture for Milwaukee County, is one of two finalists to be the new parks director for the City of Dallas, Texas.

Dallas has narrowed its search for a new parks director to two Black and Willis Winters, currently an assistant director of the Dallas Park and Recreation Department, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Max Wells, president of the Dallas Park and Recreation Board, said the board will make a final decision early next year. The park director is hired by the board and is not subject to approval by the Dallas City Council.

Black was fired abruptly and without public explanation last summer by Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele.

A seven-member search committee reviewed 114 applications for the Dallas job and settled on five finalists in late November before narrowing its list to Winters and Black to succeed Paul Dyer, who has retired.
