BizTimes Milwaukee today announced the finalists for the 2012 Fittest Execs competition.
The finalists will be honored at an awards program on Thursday, Aug. 30, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Potawatomi Bingo Casino, where the winners will be announced.
The finalists were selected based upon the results of biometric screenings and fitness tests.
The event also will feature a keynote presentation by Dr. Bob Gleeson, who will share insights from his book, “What Healthy People Know.”
According to Gleeson, healthy people consistently make seven simple daily choices that promote their health. They know how to find good health in their own lives without a fad diet, special exercise gear or sacrifice. The healthiest of Americans enjoy 80 percent less heart disease, 80 percent less diabetes and 50 percent less cancer than everyone else, Gleeson said. They spend fewer health care dollars, are ill less often, recover faster and are more active for longer than others.
Gleeson worked for 27 years as vice president and medical director at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company Inc., where he specialized in medical risk assessment, life insurance underwriting and life expectancy calculation.
He is currently the director of the Executive Health Program at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin and also us working as medical director of the Preventive cardiology and Lipid Clinic at Froedtert.
BizTimes invites readers to attend the Fittest Execs program and meet the finalists, as well as hear Gleeson’s insights about health. To register to attend, visit www.biztimes.com/fit.
