Mid City Plumbing and Heating Robert Zoulek, of Mid City Plumbing and Heating, Butler, was awarded the 2004 Business Person of the Year award from the Butler Area Chamber of Commerce. In 1965, Zoulek and his brother, Bill, opened Mid City Plumbing and Heating in Milwaukee. The business moved to Butler in 1976. The company specializes in commercial, residential and industrial plumbing and heating, and sewer and water installation and repair.
Associated General Contractors of Greater Milwaukee, Inc.
Gert Grohmann, the associate safety and training director for the Associated General Contractors of Greater Milwaukee, Inc. (AGC), Milwaukee, has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the Wisconsin Apprenticeship Advisory Council. Grohmann has been with AGC for three years, focusing on education and safety programming.
Paul Davis Restoration
Paul Davis Restoration, Milwaukee, launched a new national campaign called the Paul Davis Dry-In-3 Guarantee. The restoration company’s campaign promises to completely dry a flooded home in three days under normal circumstances. If the job takes longer, the extra time is free. The Dry-In-3 Guarantee program is based on a balance of extraction, air movement, dehumidification and proper temperature.
International Association of Administrative Professionals, Racine Chapter
The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), Racine Chapter, has elected new officers for the 2004-2005 term. Joline Woodward, a Council of Small Business Executives (COSBE) assistant for the Metro Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC), was elected president; Linda Napierala, an administrative assistant for Adecco/On-Site, was elected vice president; Lisa Parello, of WisPark LLC, was elected secretary and Karen Fandry of Clifton Gunderson LLP was elected treasurer. Sue Richtemeyer, who served as president-elect in 2003-2004, will serve as division president in the 2004-2005 term. The 2004-2005 Wisconsin board of directors consists of Cheryl Zitlow, president-elect; Deanna Zewen, vice president; Mary Edna Hagen, secretary and Lyn Hieronimus, treasurer.
Greater Milwaukee Foundation
The Mary L. Nohl Fund and the Mary Tingley Fund of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation have awarded about $147,000 in grants to support arts education programs and three-dimensional art in the metropolitan Milwaukee area. Grants from both funds were awarded through a competitive proposal process. The Mary Nohl Fund awarded a $30,000 grant to the Milwaukee Art Museum to support the ArtXpress program, a $25,000 grant to the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra to support and expand the Arts In community Education (ACE) partnership with Milwaukee Public Schools, a $13,500 grant to the Cedarburg Cultural Center to support the extension of arts education programs for youth and adults and a $10,000 grant to Present Music to fund The Creation Project. The Mary Tingley Fund awarded a $25,000 grant to the UWM Foundation-Peck School of the Arts to fund the visual arts program to bring two artists per year to Milwaukee for lectures and workshops. The Mary Tingley Fund also awarded a $25,000 grant to the Waukesha Community Foundation/Public Art Committee to help create a kinetic sculpture, a $10,000 grant to the Milwaukee Public Theatre to support the Children’s Garden Parade and Pageant Project, a $5,000 grant to Creative SHARP for an artist-in-residence project where third-grade children create public art, a $2,500 grant to Walker’s Point Center for the Arts to fund three-dimensional art classes and a $1,400 grant to Stone Bank School, Oconomowoc, to support a class totems project.

The Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center Advisory Board has named Terry Anderson as its chairperson. Anderson is the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Dedicated Computing, Waukesha, a division of OmniTech Corp. The board has also appointed three new members. Tom Casey, founder and president of the Lady Riders Breast Cancer Research Foundation has joined the board with Bill Steinberg of Strategic Leverage Partners, LLC and Missy Webster Levit.

Batzner Pest Management, New Berlin, was named one of the top 100 pest control companies in the United States for the second year in a row by Pest Control Technology, an industry magazine. Batzner offers general pest control services, bird and nuisance wildlife control, drain cleaning and building repairs. The company has branches in New Berlin, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Racine and Madison.

Acuity, Sheboygan, was included for the fifth consecutive year in Ward Financial Group’s Ward’s 50, a group of the top-performing insurance companies in the industry. Ward Financial Group determines the Ward’s 50 candidates by nationally researching which companies balance safety, consistency and performance over the past five years. Acuity operates in 12 states and was also named the best mid-sized employer in the nation in 2004 by the Great Place for Work Institute.

Pewaukee Veterinary Service opened its new 23,000 square-foot facility located at N29 W23950 Schuett Dr., Pewaukee. The new hospital offers services including a drive-thru pharmacy, examination and surgical rooms, an in-house laboratory, indoor and outdoor exercise areas, a boarding area, in-house crematorium, canine rehabilitation center, dog day care, training classes and an expanded reception area. The veterinary clinic also has technologically advanced medical equipment such as digital dental/orthodontics, pain management, respiratory and cardiac monitoring, radiology, laproscopy and endoscopy.
MTM, Inc.
Rick Fisker, a technician for MTM Inc., Milwaukee, was named Konica Minolta’s National Technician of the Month in July. Fisker has been with MTM for 18 years and is MTM’s 10th technician to receive this award in the past year.
National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Wisconsin Chapter
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Wisconsin Chapter, Hartland, has added five members to its board of trustees. The five new members are: Patricia Ackerman, assistant treasurer, A.O. Smith Corp.; Pat Foy, president, Fiserv Bank Servicing Group; Ronald Maassen, owner and partner, Lemberg Electric Company; Jeffrey Postles, Harwood Medical Associates; and James Sandstrom, president and CEO, HM graphics. The new board members join 15 other members who are responsible for defining goals and objectives toward ending multiple sclerosis, evaluating the success of the chapter’s programs, establishing policies for the management of the chapter and approving the chapter’s budget.

Stephens-Trzinski Advertising, Brookfield, recently became the media outreach partner for Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a nationwide network to reduce gun crime. As a media outreach partner, Stephens-Trzinski will handle advertising, promotions and public relations relative to the Speak Your Peace anti-gun crime campaign in Milwaukee. The agency is engaging area youth, ages 15-24, in a hip-hop competition. Through posters, flyers, TV spots, local radio spots and community outreach at neighborhood Safe and Sound sites, the Speak Your Peace competition is calling on kids to create positive rap songs denouncing gun crime. The top 10 winners will have their songs professionally recorded and included in local TV and radio commercials and public service announcements.
