Hearst-Argyle Television
Hearst-Argyle Television Inc., the owner of WISN-TV Channel 12, received the University of Southern California Annenberg Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism in the station group category. The recognition marked the third consecutive year Hearst-Argyle Television has received the Cronkite Award. Hearst-Argyle Television owns 25 television stations and manages an additional three television and two radio stations in the U.S. Wisconsin Public Television received the Cronkite Award for the second consecutive year in the local station, medium market category. Wisconsin Public Television was recognized for its Reality Checks series, its Where in Wisconsin issue series and its debate coverage.

Milwaukee Catholic Home
The Generations Day Care Center of Milwaukee Catholic Home received a grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The grant was awarded for the center’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness Program, a free event that is open to the public. The awareness program focuses on breast cancer prevention, various treatment options and areas of support.

The Roberts Group
The Roberts Group, Waukesha, received the Best of Show award for electronic media and received six other awards at the 2004 regional ADDY Awards. The Roberts Group was awarded for work created on behalf of its client, St. Francis Medical Center of Cape Girardeau, Miss. The Best of Show for electronic media was a 30-second television commercial entitled, "The Power Within." The commercial was also honored with an ADDY of Distinction for Television. The five other awards The Roberts Group received for its work for St. Francis Medical Center included an ADDY for Mixed Media for the agency’s Power Within Campaign, Citation of Excellence for Mixed Media for its Fitness Plus campaign, Citation of Excellence for Television for a spot entitled, "Reasons," Citation of Excellence for Direct Marketing for Little Reasons direct mail and a Citation of Excellence for Collateral Material for St. Francis Medical Center’s annual report. The Roberts Group was the only company from Wisconsin recognized in the Tri-City region awards, which included Southern Illinois, Kentucky and Missouri.

Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp.
Daniel Perry, president and chief executive officer of Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp., Brookfield, has signed a Statement of Support with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The initiative of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is to encourage positive relationships between employers and their Guard and Reserve employees. By signing the Statement of Support, Milwaukee Electric Tool has pledged that employment will not be denied because of service in the National Guard and Reserve, that employee job and career opportunities will not be limited or reduced because of service in the National Guard and Reserve and that employees will be granted leaves of absence for military training and/or service in the National Guard or Reserve, consistent with existing laws, without sacrifice of vacation.

American Council of Engineering Companies of Wisconsin
Alfred Benesch & Co., Kenosha, received the Grand Award in the 2005 Engineering Excellence Awards competition for its fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) cage-reinforced bridge deck. The competition is held annually by the American Council of Engineering Companies in Wisconsin (ACEC-WI), Madison. The FRP cage-reinforced bridge deck was part of the Innovative Bridge Research & Construction Program financed by the Federal Highway Administration. Alfred Benesch & Co. partnered with the University of Wisconsin-Madison for research, testing and structural design to construct the bridge, which was the first bridge deck reinforced with a prefabricated FRP reinforcement cage in Wisconsin. Southeastern Wisconsin winners in the Best of State category include R.A. Smith & Associates Inc., Brookfield, for its Waukesha Water Utility geographic information system (GIS); Miller Engineers & Scientists, Sheboygan, for the Harbor Centre South Pier District, Sheboygan; Donohue & Associates, Sheboygan, for overcoming adversity for biosolids reuse in Hutchinson, Minn., and Earth Tech Inc., Milwaukee, for a flaw control fish habitat at the Kathleen Lane Detention Facility, Mequon, an aquifer reclamation at the former DaimlerChrysler Dayton Thermal Products Facility, Dayton, Ohio and for the reconstruction of Main Street in downtown Racine. Geneva Resort Properties, a broker specializing in vacation home and condominium hotel sales in the Geneva Lakes area, has merged with the Shorewest Realtors Lake Geneva office. Lavi Clausen, a sales associate, has joined Shorewest to service vacation home buyers and sellers. Shorewest, Realtors has also entered an exclusive marketing partnership with Jerde Builders, Racine. Through the alliance, Shorewest will assist Jerde Builders in the marketing of its custom-built homes throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

Jim Meissner, founder and chief executive officer of Color Ink Inc., Sussex, will exhibit his pieces of fine art and oil paintings at Landmarks Gallery, Milwaukee, beginning May 14. Meissner’s work includes views of vistas in the Southwest, portraits, landscapes of Wisconsin and paintings of places he has visited in Hawaii and Italy. Five women recently received the Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce 2005 Leading the Way Women of Achievement Awards. The winners were honored for their qualities of leadership, business acumen and service to the community. The winners included: Sharon Ellis, owner of SQE Communication Group and a founder of the Leadership Menomonee Falls program; Kerry Freiberg, vice president of marketing and community relations for Community Memorial Hospital and the executive director of Community Memorial Foundation; Mary Metzger of Cornerstone Community Bank; Donna Strong, a founder of Leadership Menomonee Falls and past chair, vice chair and program director and Jayne Thoma, executive director of the United Way in Waukesha County and president of the Wisconsin United Way.

David J. Frank Landscape Contracting Inc.
Keith Ehmke, of David J. Frank Landscape Contracting Inc., Germantown, received the Bronze Award of Excellence from the Wisconsin Landscape Contractors Association for his landscape design for a home in the Town of Somers. The design included innovative stone paving, a detailed cedar pergola and a re-circulating pond. Len Roecker, senior project manager for R.A. Smith & Associates Inc., Brookfield, was named Engineer of the Year by the Waukesha Chapter of the Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers (WSPE) and Andy Schultz, project engineer for R.A. Smith, was named Young Engineer of the Year. Roecker has more than 19 years of municipal engineering and surveying experience and is currently working for the villages of West Milwaukee and Greendale. Roecker is the town engineer for the towns of Salem, Wheatland and Brighton and provides ongoing engineering services for the Kenosha County Department of Public Works. Schultz has six years of experience in the design and coordination of municipal engineering projects and has been a project engineer in the municipal engineering division of R.A. Smith since 2001.

Small Business Administration Wisconsin
James Lindenberg of World Class Wire and Cable Inc., New Berlin, received the Wisconsin Small Business Person of the Year award for 2005 from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Lindenberg is one of 53 top small business persons, one of which will be named SBA’s National Business Person of the Year. World Class Wire and Cable has had double digit increases in sales and employees each year since it was established in 1994 and Lindenberg adds between one and three services each year. For the award, business owners were judged on their staying power, workforce growth, increase in sales and/or unit volume, current and past financial reports, innovativeness of product or service offered, response to adversity and contributions to aid community-oriented projects. Other small business owners that received awards from the SBA that are located in southeastern Wisconsin include Minority Small Business Person of the Year Jean Thiel of Belonger Corp. Eleta Salon has become Eleta Salon & Tan and relocated to 314 E. Silver Spring Dr., Whitefish Bay. Eleta Salon changed the name of the salon to Eleta Salon & Tan to reflect its new tanning service offering, in addition to nail, hair and skin care and massage services.
